Lament of The Highborne Cover by Jay the Bard

Jay the Bard is a World of Warcraft musician. He has worked with other artists such as Sharm. This time is specifically notable because he works with Patty Mattson, the voice of Lady Sylvanas Windrunner to do an acoustic cover of Lament of The Highborne.

Lament of the Highborne was first revealed in Burning Crusades after a quest chain, she would sing you her song. The song is a melody that was written as a tribute to the loss of Night Elves and High Elves lost to conflicts.

Jay the Bard is known for his musical talents, there is a Kul Tiran bard in Boralus after he won the BlizzCon 2017 talent contest. Patty Mattson is also a frequent guest of voice actor panels at BlizzCon, so we know her pretty well.

Popularity

There is a toy that makes this song more popular, Sylvanas’ Music Box. The quest chain “The Lady’s Necklace” is how you would be able to hear the song prior. The original song had composers Derek Duke & Russell Brower, and sung by Vangie Gunn.

Other Works

There have been many machinimas and covers of Lament of the Highborn, including by Patty Mattson herself. Patty made an unofficial remake in 2019 which you can find on her YouTube channel. There have been many different singers at the Video Games Live Concert in China for this particular piece.

Jay The Bard

Jay the Bard as touched on has worked with Sharm, but he has also worked with Greg Chun. Greg Chun is the voice of Anduin Lothar, Jarod Shadowsong, Emperor Shaohao, and Dr. Harold Winston from the Overwatch cinematic. Greg and he did the Song of Silence cover together.
