Korean Webzine potion interviews Ion Hazzikostas
A Korean webzine interviewed Ion Hazzikostas about the Dragonflight expansion. So far we have not learned about any of the major bosses. The expansion is based on exploration above all else. We will even learn about the origins of the Dracthyr and increased flexibility in the process. Dragonflight is intending to be an uplifting journey into a world of dragons with some new stories.
This is not just a new age of dragons, but a new age of World of Warcraft as Ion explained. While Alexstrasza and Kalecgos are established other dragon flights are not. As it stands right now, there is no current black aspect. Ysera has been through a lot, there are questions about her as well in Dragonflight.
Dragonflight will have a similar exploration to Mists of Pandaria in the ways of the storyline. There will be major bosses, but we will find out who the enemies are within the first few weeks along the way of our exploring.
Central Characters
It is expected the five dragonflights will lead the story as central characters of this expansion, why wouldn’t they be on an expansion about dragons? Ion Hazzikostas also says that we will learn how the journey in Shadowlands touched Ysera. We have known that Wrathion has been looking for the Dragon Isles and has been unable to find them until now.
Bosses
Blizzard has things like big bosses, major upgrade bosses, and even the final boss planned out but this is not going to be an apparent upfront single villain who would destroy Azeroth. We are likely arriving at a new land with a culture, different problems, and different threats and we will over the course of our journey learn and understand who those threats are.
Environmental Story
You will be discovering the environmental story as you go through the place, similar to how it was done in Mists of Pandaria. By the end of the first few weeks, they hope we figure out who the major villains are and where we will go for our fight.
The New Chapter
Blizzard promises this is not just a new age of dragons, but also the new age of World of Warcraft. They are laying foundations with their systems to last for many more years to come. They also can not wait for players to join this journey and encourage players to offer feedback so they can continue to make this the game everything we want it to be.
What are your thoughts on Dragonflight so far? What feedback would you offer Blizzard right now?
