Wrath Classic Interview
In an interview, there have been some things learned about Wrath Classic. There will be no “era” realms for Burning Crusade Classic at the moment. The BC client will be able to transition into Wrath, without an option for players to do character cloning. This does not rule out a possibility of a BC season in the future. It just won’t happen anytime soon.
Season of Mastery will not be the final season of Classic. The team has experimented with ideas based on player feedback, such as no world buffs and updated raid encounters. The classic team did deliver what they experimented with.
The Classic team is going to be paying attention to what players are asking for and looking to provide the best experience for them so they can continue to enjoy and have fun with what they bring to the table. Blizzard is looking at community feedback and the development team is currently in discussions about whether or not they should add race changes and faction changes, but currently have nothing to announce.
Realm PVP Faction Restrictions
In the past, PVP realms had their faction restrictions lifted in 3.2, so players could create both Horde and Alliance on the same pvp realms. Blizzard currently has nothing to announce on whether or not they will lift these restrictions in Wrath Classic or not.
Class Balance
Wrath Classic will be on 3.3.5 for Class Balance, but not necessarily the systems and features. The disenchant button added to the Need/Green pop-up will be removed. They are removing this because it takes away from player interaction, so now players will have to ask others if they can disenchant it for them.
Arena Teams
The individual rating system is more player-friendly and they will be replacing the arena teams with this rating system. This will hopefully be a positive change in the community. Players will be able to participate in arena matches freely and won’t be tied to a specific team. You also will be able to experiment in the PVP arena for team compositions a little better.
Pre-Patch
There will be a pre-patch event that would last three weeks or so. It will be at least 2 weeks and no more than six weeks. Players will then be able to prepare Death Knights during the pre-patch event before they head off to Northrend.
Content Phases
The content phases or how things will go for launch or future unlocks have also been revealed.
- Pre-Patch Event (Two to Six Weeks long)
- Release
- Raids Unlock (About a week after release)
- Naxxramas, Eye of Eternity, Obsidian Sanctum
- Ulduar
- Trial of the Grand Crusader, Argent Tournament
- Icecrown Citadel
The dungeon finder will be removed for Wrath Classic. Blizzard recognizes how it contrasts the original classic design, so they decided to remove the feature. PLayers have shown and voiced that they were against anything remotely similar to Dungeon Finder. Blizzard even shut down an addon that was emulating the dungeon finder.
It would seem that Blizzard has taken player feedback into careful consideration and moving forward will continue to do so. They are also looking into updating systems and tools to ensure that they facilitate group creation without removing social aspects. The classic community has been all about those social aspects.
What are your thoughts on Wrath Classic? What would you say is the part you are looking forward to the most?
